Sunset at the Trabucco: Aperitivo above the Sea of Peschici

Peschici’s great treasure is its historic centre, embraced by medieval walls and punctuated by towers that still stand today. Narrow lanes, viewpoints leaning out over the sea and white houses with domed or pitched roofs tell, in a typically Mediterranean setting, of the many eras and dominations that have left their mark here.
Above the sea stands the Castle of Peschici, the first building of the present-day historic centre, raised by the Normans around the year 1000 on the remains of a small Greek castle. Down below await the characteristic fishing harbour, the long sandy bay and, to the north, a pine-covered cliff and the Torre di Monte Pucci, which separates it from the bays of Calenelle and San Menaio.
Today, from Peschici, you will watch the sun bid farewell to the sea from one of its trabucchi, glass in hand, with an aperitivo.
